It is a whitewater river, excellent for rafting and kayaking.

The Pastaza River originates from the Tungurahua Volcano and descends near the city of Baños. It is known as the whitewater river. It runs for 340 kilometers in Ecuador and crosses the Eastern Cordillera, forming waterfalls and cataracts on its way to the jungle. It also continues its journey through Peru. The Pastaza River is a wonderful place that allows tourists to appreciate the nature and peace of this part of the Ecuadorian Amazon.

It is located near the city of Baños and the tours begin from here. It is located approximately 198 kilometers southeast of the city of Quito and can be reached by car in approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.

It has an average temperature of 19°C, which is pleasant for visitors.

This river has a Category III and IV for water activities. These levels are classified as moderate and difficult, perfect for more adventurous tourists with some experience who can enjoy this fun journey.
