Yellow Lagoon (2 days)
Itinerary Day 1:
Meeting with the guide for check the equipment in Riobamba City or Baños office at 8:00 am
We will drive to “La Candelaria” place
Here, we will check the equipment
Walk of 15 kilometers to Sangay National Park, about 6 or 7 hours
We will arrive at the camping area & installation of Base camp
Information about the Volcano, history, animals, plants, etc.
Dinner & rest.
Itinerary Day 2:
Early breakfast & at 7:00 am we will take our bag pack with the necessary things
Start the walk 2 kilometers to the Laguna Amarilla Crater (duration 4 hours)
The Lagoon is located at 4100 meters (13451 ft.) above sea level
In the crater we have time to take beautiful photographs and enjoy the landscape, which is very impressive
At 12:30 pm we start the return to the Base Camp (4 hours walk)
There, the vehicle will wait for the group
Return to Riobamba City or Baños
NOTE: The Sangay National Park rule is working with small groups of tourists with 1 guide, if one of the tourists makes the decision to go down without reaching the summit of the Crater or Yellow Lagoon for any reason, all the group return, if we have several groups and we have more guides there, one guide goes down and the others can continue climb (just if it possible & if the other group agrees). Also, the guides will decide if the climb finish if we have any reason of risk, weather changes, etc.
