QUILOTOA LAGOON TOUR

 

Quilotoa is a volcano located on the westernmost side of the Northern Andes and stands out for an impressive natural lagoon in its crater, known as the Quilotoa Lagoon, which is located within an Ecological Reserve at 3914 meters above sea level in the central area of ​​the Ecuadorian mountains, on the middle of Avenue of the Volcanoes route.

 

It has a diameter of 2 kilometers and you can take a 4-hour walk along a path that surrounds the Lagoon and presents spectacular landscapes along the way (special tour for two days).

 

On our one-day tour we will visit an indigenous market (only on Thursdays), we will cross the Tigua Canyon Valley with beautiful Andean landscapes, then we will make a stop at an indigenous house to observe what the daily life of the natives in this area is like and at the end we will arrive at the amazing Quilotoa Lagoon, we will observe the crater from a viewpoint and for passengers who wish, they can take the walk to the lower part of the lagoon, a walk to the lagoon that lasts (approximately) 2 hours to go down and go up again to the top of the crater to finish the excursion.

Itinerary:

  • Start at 07:00 am in the meeting point

  • Stop in the Tigua painters Gallery

  • Visit the Toachi Canyon

    Arrive to Quilotoa (3910 m – 12828 ft), hike down to the lake (1 hour)

    Ascent to Quilotoa Town (2 hours).

    Lunch

    Return to Quito
